The international development strategy implemented by La Cité Nantes Congress Centre is paying off. This season boasts a significant number of international conventions, with ten of them showing outstanding economic impact for the region.

For more than 12 years, La Cité Nantes Congress Centre has developed partnerhsips with all the local higher education and research establishments as well as with competitiveness centres. It also actively works with the regional centres of excellence. In this way, La Cité’s teams, by continually assisting event organisers and scientific organisations, help contribute to the international outreach of the excellence sectors in the region, and of the Nantes destination.

International congresses promote local expertise and are actual growth drivers for the Nantes economy. Some of the events hosted this season:

Association of Embryo Technology in Europ Congress(together with Onirison Embryo Technology in Europe) – 13thFIAPAC Conference– (Congress on Abortion and Contraception, backed by Professor David, Clinique Jules Verne in Nantes)– 40th IABSE(In relation with  Ifsttaron Bridge Engineering) – IPIN 2018(Conference supported by Ifsttar on Terrestrial Positioning Systems) – 7th international conference on Changeable, Agile, Reconfigurable and Virtual Production(with the backing of Ecole Centrale) – International Conference on Human Sea(European Research project born of a vision of Nantes University) – 18th ICHA (Scientific Congress on Harmful Algae, an initiative of Ifremer) – 4thECOP(European Conference of Oncology Pharmacy organised by Ecco) – 32nd International conference EFFOST(on Food Science and Technology, in relation with Oniris and INRA)…

In 2018, La Cité Nantes Congress Centre will have hosted 24 international conventions. Sixteen of them meet the ICCA*requirements -International Congress and Convention Association -, a top reference in international business tourism, with the publication of its annual list of destinations for international meetings.

As regards international meetings held on a rotational basis, La Cité Nantes Congress Centre is intent on making Nantes an appealing « go-to destination » for event organisers who want to extend their choice beyond big capital cities.

These trends should be confirmed by the ongoing strengthening of the quality of the regional infrastructure : 10 new direct air routes to open in 2019 (over 100 destinations currently served by 26 companies), hotel facilities with 8 795 rooms, a creative cultural offer and a most welcoming destination (en event charter lists all the industry players in Nantes & Saint Nazaire).

This dynamic will no doubt boost the assets of Nantes and La Cité on the world meetings stage.
